Baked Ziti
Ingredients

Yield: ~1 9x13 inch pan
Method
- Preheat oven to 375F. Grease a 9x13 pan.
- In a large pot, heat
olive oil
, then addmeats
and sear2-3 mins
. - Flip
meats
and sear again . Break up into bits. - Cook
meats
on medium until fat renders andmeat
is slightly browned. - Remove
meats
and add insweet onion
. Cook withsalt & pepper
until almost done, then addgarlic
and briefly fry. - Add back
meats
, then addcrushed tomatoes
. Simmer5 mins
. Add0.75 tbsp
sugar to reduce tomato acidity if needed. - Meanwhile, cook
ziti
in salted water until slightly under al-dente. - Combine
cooked ziti
withsauce.
Separately, combine all cheese. - In greased pan, add half of the
pasta and sauce
. Layerricotta
andcheese mix
on top. - Top with remaining ingredients.
- Bake uncovered
35 mins
or until cheese is browned. - Cool at least 15 mins.
